CRASH COURSE ON RURAL, NATURAL MEDICINE FOR KNIGHT PHYSICIANS QUITO, ECUADOR JULY 19, 20, 21, 2007 By popular request, we are holding a special 3 day training on comprehensive, natural medicine diagnosis and treatment. Our successful seminar series on Acupuncture for Physicians in Ecuador and North America has spurred this demand. The seminar will be held at our affiliate institution, INEPE, where advanced training was given to doctors during the WORLD CONGRESS FOR NATURAL MEDICINE, 2005. The seminar schedule will include hands-on training in the morning, followed by treatment of patients in the afternoon (this service sponsored by the Knights Hospitaller of Ecuador). The INEPE program presents a unique opportunity for north americans to see how natural medicine is naturally practiced in such a lovely country as Ecuador. This seminar, workshop and residency is sponsored by the Knights Hospitaller of Ecuador, SOMA, Vital Medics, and the PanAmerican School of Natural Medicine. * WEDNESDAY 9 AM - A TOUR OF OLD QUITO * THE MEDICAL MUSEUM OF EDUARDO ESTRELLA ![]() ![]() -spectacular medical history tour of south america, artefacts, history of quinine (cinchona), quinoa, y quito y mas * Wednesday 2 PM: Diplomatic Briefing for Investiture Candidates 4 PM: Investiture. day 1: Thursday Electrodermal Screening - Newest Methods (EDS) What began as an investigation of acupuncture points, today has grown into a scientific discipline of transdermal measurement of topographic points as a refined system of reflexodiagnosis. Measurements of the conductance of lower motor neurones reveals the functional status of internal organs via autonomic pathways. The EDS device and system provides the primary care practitioner with the least inexpensive tool that can evaluate the functional status well beyond ultrasonography and electrocardiology. Hours 1-3: Overview of Electrodermal Diagnosis, basics of the system, professional measurements for confirmed diagnosis. Survey of the organ systems. The new hormonal points. Matching measurements with signs and symptoms of disease. Functional diagnoses. Overview of summation diagnosis, EDS + History + Laboratory = Success. Integrating other tests to confirm the EDS findings - lab, blood, urine, etc. * A traditional Andean Lunch After Lunch: servicing of patients until 5 PM. Electrodermal Screening, Laboratory, Neural Therapy. day 2: Friday, Natural medicine laboratory - hematology and urinalysis A few simple drops of blood, viewed microscopically as dried and wet mounts, provide an enormous amount of nutritional and pathologic profiles, and will always show the destructive eating patterns of toxic, oxidative species. Today's medicine has lost sight of common, simple laboratory tests as the basis for confirmation of primary care diagnosis. Many ordinary chemicals are routinely helpful in establishing not only a diagnosis but also a nutritional, metabolic profile of the patient. Jaundice can easily be differentiated into obstructive and non-obstructive types with a simple iodine spot test for urine. Phenylketonuria was discovered by the mere addition of ferric chloride solution to urine. 1st hour: Review of the office, in-house laboratory tests. 2nd hour: Urinalysis - the cells, crystals and casts. Not only pathologic urine states, but also the most destructive signs of bowel autotoxemia. 3rd hour: Nutritional and pathological profiles of dry blood mounts. Simple microscopy and pathologic patterns of a series of dried blood drops. Technic and methodology. High resolution microscopy analysis of red blood cell pathomorphology. * A traditional Andean Lunch After Lunch: servicing of patients until 5 PM. Electrodermal Screening, Laboratory, Neural Therapy. Field Vaccine for HIV, simple abrasion (needle-less) band aid method, gift to 3rd world countries Announcing: KNIGHTS SCHOOL OF DIPLOMACYThe Knights have set up a short, 10 lesson course in Diplomacy. It is imperative our members are briefed on matters of Diplomatic Relations and understand our station flows form the UN Declaration of Human Rights, the charter document as the highest law of the lands. Following that is International Law and the Geneva Convention wherein the Hospitaller becomes a protected international citizen and charity relief worker (soldiers of charity). Following that, where the Diplomats of the Order are respected under the Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations and Immunity. It is available free to Members of the Order and for accepted Diplomatic Candidates, study is mandatory. Simply respond to this email and you will be sent the password for entry. LESSON 1 INTERNATIONAL LAW International law can refer to any of three things: * public international law * private international law or conflict of laws * the law of supranational organizations. LESSON 2 THE UNITED NATIONS The United Nations (UN) is an international organization whose stated aims are to facilitate co-operation in international law, international security, economic development, social progress and human rights issues. LESSON 3 HUMAN RIGHTS Human rights refers to "the basic rights and freedoms to which all humans are entitled, often held to include the right to life and liberty, freedom of thought and expression, and equality before the law." The Hospitallers consider freedom of medical choice, and access to primary care, a basic human right. LESSON 4 The Universal Declaration of Human Rights The Universal Declaration of Human Rights (abbreviated UDHR) is an advisory declaration adopted by the United Nations General Assembly (A/RES/217, 10 December 1948 at Palais de Chaillot, Paris). It consists of 30 articles which outline the view of the United Nations General Assembly on the human rights guaranteed to all people. Eleanor Roosevelt, first chairwoman of the Commission on Human Rights (CHR) that drafted the Declaration, said, "It is not a treaty...[In the future, it] may well become the international Magna Carta..." All that we do, what we represent, and what we defend, all flows from this document. Sovereignty is the exclusive right to exercise supreme political (e.g. legislative, judicial, and/or executive) authority over a geographic region, group of people, or oneself. A sovereign is the supreme lawmaking authority, subject to no other. Thus the legal maxim, There is no law without a sovereign. LESSON 6 HOSPITALLER SOVEREIGNTY http://smokh.org/history.html LESSON 7 INTERGOVERNMENTAL ORGANIZATIONS An international organization, or more formally intergovernmental organization (IGO), is an organization, such as the European Community or World Trade Organization, with sovereign states or other IGOs as members. LESSON 8 Democratic mundialization Democratic globalisation is the concept of an institutional system of global democracy that would give world citizens a say in world organizations. This would, in the view of its proponents, bypass nation-states, corporate entities, ideological NGOs, cults and mafias. LESSON 9 DIPLOMACY Diplomacy is the art and practice of conducting negotiations between representatives of groups or states. The Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations is an international treaty on diplomatic intercourse and the privileges and immunities of a diplomatic mission. Diplomatic immunity is a form of legal immunity and a policy held between governments, which ensures that diplomats are given safe passage and are considered not susceptible to lawsuit or prosecution under the host country's laws (although they can be expelled). LESSON 10 PASSPORTS A passport is a travel document issued by a national government that usually identifies the bearer as a national of the issuing state and requests that the bearer be permitted to enter and pass through other countries. FASCINATING READING Sign and the Seal: The Quest for the Lost Ark of the Covenant by Graham Hancock (Paperback - Jul 2, 1993) Buy new: $16.95 $11.53 141 Used & new from $1.98 http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_ss_gw/ 002-2811901-1057637?url=search-alias%3Daps&field- keywords=sign+and+the+seal&Go.x=0&Go.y=0&Go=Go If you ever wanted to find out the real origin of the templars and freemasons, this book spells it out in a fascinating journey to find the ark of the covenant. Graham Hancock, a journalist, narrates his journeys and discoveries in africa and europe and leads to some exciting and startling conclusions. The mystique is removed and the hard core archeological evidence unfolds. As Hospitallers, we should be versed on our history, especially of jerusalem and why this city was so revered for centuries. For a dollar ninety eight, it is well worth a read. INTERNATIONAL NEWS Indigenous Women's Pushback Fpif.org Indigenous activists are putting up a fight - against violence. At the UN Permanent Forum on Indigenous Issues, activists are focused on passing a declaration that recognizes the right of Indigenous Peoples to their lands, territories, and resources. This organizing drive is seeking international legal protection from the violence done to Indigenous Peoples, which over the centuries has threatened their very survival. Indigenous women, meanwhile, are organizing against gender-based violence. This violence has derived not just from gender discrimination and subordination but also from the violation of the collective rights of Indigenous communities. J' accuse: A Children's Doctor And A Mighty State By Subhash Gatade It has been more than ten days that Dr Binayak Sen, a paediatrician by training and profession and a human rights activist by choice has received a new identity. - A menace to public safety - The Chattisgarh police whose own record of human rights violations would shame even the KPS Gills, has used the provisions of the draconian Public Safety Act and Unlawful Activities Prevention Act ( a substitute for POTA ) to detain Dr Binayak Sen in the wee hours of 14 th May Operation Freedom From Iraqis http://www.truthout.org/docs_2006/052707C.shtml "Iraqis are clamoring to get out of Iraq. Two million have fled so far and nearly two million more have been displaced within the country. (That's a total of some 15 percent of the population.) Save the Children reported this month that Iraq's child-survival rate is falling faster than any other nation's. Yet for all the words President Bush has lavished on Darfur and AIDS in Africa, there has been a deadly silence from him about what's happening in the country he gave 'God's gift of freedom.' It's easy to see why," says Frank Rich. Senate Moves to Expand Detainee Rights http://www.truthout.org/docs_2006/052707G.shtml Senate Democrats are backing a bill that would grant new rights to terror suspects held at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, including access to a lawyer regardless of whether the prisoners are put on trial. "Good Riddance Attention W.ore" by CindySheehan Mon May 28, 2007 at 09:57:01 AM PDT I have endured a lot of smear and hatred since Casey was killed and especially since I became the so-called "Face" of the American anti-war movement. Especially since I renounced any tie I have remaining with the Democratic Party, I have been further trashed on such "liberal blogs" as the Democratic Underground. Being called an "attention whore" and being told "good riddance" are some of the more milder rebukes. * CindySheehan's diary :: :: For the Love of Whales http://www.truthout.org/docs_2006/053007K.shtml Kelpie Wilson writes, "Once again, in what has become an annual rite, Japan, Iceland and Norway will try, at the meeting of the International Whaling Commission this week, to overturn the international ban on hunting whales, while a global coalition of whale lovers urges governments to stand firm against the move." Guantanamo Trials in Chaos After Judge Throws Out Two Cases The Bush administration's plans to bring detainees at Guantanamo Bay to trial were thrown into chaos yesterday when military judges threw out all charges against a detainee held there since he was 15, and dismissed charges against another detainee who chauffeured Osama bin Laden. "Serious Jeopardy" for US Climate Studies http://www.truthout.org/issues_06/060507EA.shtml The Bush administration is drastically scaling back efforts to measure global warming from space, just as the president tries to convince the world that the US is ready to take the lead in reducing greenhouse gases. Melting Ice Will Affect Hundreds of Millions Globally http://www.truthout.org/issues_06/060507EB.shtml Hundreds of millions of livelihoods will be affected by declining snow and ice cover as a result of global warming. The risks facing people include rising sea levels and losing access to drinking water, a UN study concludes. Logging Threatens Indonesia's Forests http://www.truthout.org/issues_06/060507EC.shtml Indonesia's rainforests - especially those on Borneo island - are being stripped so rapidly because of illegal logging and palm oil plantations for biofuels that they could be wiped out altogether within 15 years, some environmentalists say. Fall Ecuadorian Investiture Oct. 11 & 12, 2007, Quito Will include a seminar and briefing on International Diplomacy and a visit to our hospital grounds in Santo Domingo. We also have a prior trip planned for Ica Peru on Oct. 7th to visit the museum or artifacts of Dr. Cabrera, sponsored by our Knight Dr. Manuel Cevallos.
