Alabama Weight Loss Diet PDF Print E-mail

MODIFIED WEIGHT LOSS DIET
USED BY THE CARDIAC UNIT OF THE BIRMINGHAM ALABAMA HOSPITAL

So often I am asked, "what can you do for weight?" Well, its just as hard to take it off as it was to put it on, make no bones about it. There are no subsitutes for calorie reduction, especially reduced dietary fats of all forms, and good ole exercise.

Ask yourself, what does the body do with fat, and why is it so needed that the body stores it in copious quantities? One reason is that the heart is designed to utilize up to 50% of its energy requirement from fat. The creator designed it so that a body fasting from food, our "holy" day of abstsinence, can keep on pumping when the body is not taking in carbohydrates from foods. This makes exercise a key factor in weight loss.

Fats also provide insulation, providing a coating to retain heat. This is something we living in Nevis have little need for. Thus, unwanted body fat is only going to make you feel hot, intolerant of our weather, and prematurely fatigued when walking the streets of Charlestown on a summer's afternoon.

Fats when distributed evenly give the body a pleasing contour. Yet, when distributed in excess, you know the rest of the story. The unusual physiology of fat desposits is that they are poorly vascularized, meaning poor access to blood and lymph. Some resesarchers, including the author, believe this is why body fat can be so hard to lose. Massage is one way to force mobilization of fat. Sitting on your fat is certainly the slowest way to get it moving into the body's fluids. Massage with exercise makes a dynamic combination if performed routinely.

And the question is always asked, what do I eat. Well, that's not only a big question, but also an individual one based on a person's body type and constitution. But a colleague passed on to me a diet she emphatically stated "works, just put your patients on it, you'll see." This diet works by food proportions (Protein, Fats, and Carbohydrates) designed to make the body breakdown and burn fat. This diet is to help you lose "10 pounds in 4 days." After 3 days of the low fat restricted diet, eat your usual foods while avoiding any allergic foods, but do not overeat or binge on snacks! After 4 days of regular eating, start back on the 3 days restricted diet.
This diet is used at the Birmingham Hospital cardiac unit for patients who need to lose a lot of weight in a hurry before having surgery. ON THIS LOW FAT DIET, YOU CAN LOSE UP TO 40 POUNDS A MONTH, SAFELY. I suggested you take a multivitamin and multimineral supplement, and drink lots of tea to help dissolve fat. This Chinese have know this for thousands of years. Below are our modified instructions.
